It can be Resillient (CON) too, to be honest. run in, attack, run out, forcing the opponent to move if they want to make an attack and triggering additional damage from booming blade.War Caster for concentration and Bomming Blade op attack. ![]() Mobile on the other hand can be awesome for a skirmisher especially when it stacks on top of the extra speed from bladesong. Other than that: I want the spell caster levels I get from Wizard, I want Blade Song, and maybe most importantly want the utility of a Wizard. Swashbuckler + Bladesinger would accomplish something similar, though, with more of a combat focus than straight AT.I definitely think Haste will be applicable. So, based on what you're describing, straight Arcane Trickster is probably the way to go. The only other thing I'd recommend Bladesinger for is if you wanted more defensive spells, like Mirror Image, and even then it delays something like Uncanny Dodge by 3 levels. If you want more defense or HP, two levels into Fighter will get you all that you need. If you want Wizard Rituals, they can be easily picked up with Ritual Caster, as they go up to level 5 spells. If you don't want Shadow Blade, and you don't think Haste will be too applicable, you might just be better off playing a straight Arcane Trickster, relying on Booming Blade and Cunning Action (for Disengaging). My bad, meant to quote the second comment with it. run in, attack, run out, forcing the opponent to move if they want to make an attack and triggering additional damage from booming blade.Small clarification on this, you can use two weapons and still Bladesing. run in, attack, run out, forcing the opponent to move if they want to make an attack and triggering additional damage from booming blade. which although useful is much better if you have other ways to get op attacks like sentinel or pam. The only thing warcaster would appear to do for this build is use a cantrip for an op attack. You already have a bonus to con saves so that arguably it would be better to get resilient con than war caster for improved concentration checks. ![]() So, you can always cast spells because you have a hand free. You also gain your intelligence modifier as a bonus to constitution saving throws to maintain concentration. Just curious why you would want war caster on this build (except perhaps op attacks using booming blade in the rare cases when something decides to run away from you?)īladesinging only works with one handed attacks and only with light armor and no shield. After that you're free to do what you see fit, as neither style really requires anything more than filling in more levels. With haste, you can attack with the haste action, trigger SA, then with your normal action ready an attack action for after your turn ends for another does of sneak attack.įor what you're doing, start with 2 and 2 levels for sure, which brings all of the moving parts (bladesinging and cunning action) online. Bladecantrips are good early on at the very least.įor another option, which I would suggest normally but not in this case of hitting and running, is haste and readied attack. Most options will work fine, since bladecantrips and shadowblade are free real estate on a rogue. Probably pick up haste for the extra speed and another attack. If you want to do blade cantrips, you can do anything from 2 to 5 wizard. This will get you the most mileage from Shadow Blade. If you want Shadowblade, you take Bladesinger to at least 6 to get extra attack for certain. Would be great to hear some ideas and perhaps builds for a build of this nature :)From the perspective of features, it's stimple ![]() I've seen some people advocate for Shadow Blade while some say otherwise, with many differing opinion on level splits as well. To keep it simple: what is the best way to go about such a build?
